Bangladesh: Bangladesh Jatiya Party Chairman Andaleeve Rahman, MP (Bhola-1) today emphasized the importance of respecting both the Constitution and the July National Charter, advocating for national unity and a balanced political approach to advance the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman made these remarks during a parliamentary discussion on the motion for summoning the session of the Constitution Reform Council. The motion was presented by Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman under Section 62 of the Rules of Procedure, in accordance with the July National Charter (Constitution Reform) Implementation Order, 2025.

Andaleeve Rahman highlighted the complexity and uniqueness of the current political climate, urging against any depiction of political groups as adversaries of the July movement. While his party aligns with the spirit of the July movement, Rahman stressed the necessity of balancing constitutional continuity with revolutionary aspirations.

He remarked that the country’s transition was not a complete revolution, which would have led to a new constitution, but rather a transitional process under the doctrine of necessity, where constitutional respect was maintained alongside reforms. He advocated for necessary reforms to ensure democratic stability.

Rahman reiterated the need for politicians to honor both the Constitution and the July National Charter in their reform efforts. He called for unity and respect for the Constitution, while simultaneously upholding the spirit of July.

The lawmaker urged political parties to refrain from undermining the July movement and to honor the sacrifices of martyrs such as Abu Sayeed and Wasim Akram. He encouraged dialogue and national unity to facilitate positive progress for the nation.

Rahman expressed optimism that with goodwill and intention, Bangladesh could advance while respecting constitutional principles and the July Charter.
