Khusbu Triumphs in International FIDE Rating Women’s Chess Championship

Dhaka: Woman FIDE Master Warsia Khusbu of Bangladesh Navy emerged as the champion in the Begum Laila Alam International FIDE Rating Women’s Chess, held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khusbu clinched the title with 5.5 points out of seven games. Woman Candidate Master Neelava Choudhury of Bangladesh Ansar secured the runner-up position with the same score. The tie-breaking system was employed to determine the final standings, resulting in Khusbu’s victory.

Woman Candidate Master Israt Jahan Diba of Bangladesh Police claimed third place, while Woman International Master Rani Hamid finished fourth. Both achieved 5.5 points, similar to Khusbu and Neelava.

Woman Candidate Master Nusrat Jahan Alo, representing Bangladesh Ansar, finished in fifth place with five points. Woman FIDE Master Nazrana Khan Eva of Bangladesh Police took the sixth position, and Tasnia Tarannum Orpa from South Point Sports Club secured seventh place.

Jannatul Preety, Jinnat Akter Shahnaz, and Kaumudi Nargis each scored 4.5 points, ending in eighth, ninth, and tenth places, respectively. Woman Candidate Master Walijah Ahmed and Raiena Hasan placed eleventh and twelfth after a tie-break, each securing four points.

Special prizes were awarded to Warisa Haider, Zowena Mehbish, Afshan Ahliat Kreste, and Mubassira Tasneem Tonima. In the seventh and final round matches, Khusbu drew with Neelava, and Alo drew with Nazrana. Rani Hamid defeated Jinnat, Diba triumphed over Walijah, Preety won against Ahona, and Nargis defeated Zowena.
