Dhaka: The government has issued a gazette notification establishing an executive committee for Hajj management, appointing Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad as its chairman. The notification was signed and released by Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Md. Humayun Kabir.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee will be led by the Religious Affairs Minister and will include secretaries from several ministries, including Home, Public Administration, and Finance, alongside heads of relevant government agencies. The committee’s responsibilities will encompass formulating an action plan to ensure efficient Hajj management, approving Hajj packages, and overseeing the implementation of decisions made by the national committee.

The gazette further elaborates that the chairman will preside over all committee meetings, with the provision that any member nominated by the chairman may chair meetings if necessary. The committee is expected to meet as required and has the authority to co-opt members when needed.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs will be responsible for providing secretarial support to the committee. The notification also indicates that a previous order issued by the Cabinet Division on October 2, 2024, regarding this matter, has been revoked.
