Over Half a Million Benefit from Free Legal Aid Services

Dhaka: Over 555,908 individuals have benefited from free legal advice provided by the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO), as detailed in a recent report.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report, published on the NLASO website, outlines the provision of these services to financially insolvent justice seekers from 2009 to February 2026. The data indicates that 27,010 individuals received services through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while 307,009 were assisted by Legal Aid offices across 64 districts in the country. Additionally, the Dhaka and Chattogram Labour Legal Aid Cells supported 22,083 people.

Furthermore, the report highlights that 199,806 individuals accessed legal advice through the national helpline call center ‘16699’. These services are offered at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act, aiming to ensure legal assistance for financially disadvantaged and incapable justice seekers nationwide.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) administers the program under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
