Man Fatally Stabbed by Brother in Naogaon Family Dispute

Naogaon: A man who was seriously injured during a family dispute in Manda Upazila of Naogaon has died while undergoing treatment. Ashraful Islam Phulon, 35, succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Saturday evening.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Ashraful was a resident of Bankura village in Kashab Union of Manda Upazila and the son of Moyez Uddin Pramanik. The accused, Amjad Hossain Babu, 30, is his younger brother. Locals reported that the two brothers were involved in a long-standing family dispute, which escalated into a fight on Saturday morning. During the altercation, Amjad allegedly attacked Ashraful, causing serious injuries.



Locals intervened and initially took Ashraful to Manda Upazila Health Complex. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he died while receiving medical care in the evening.



Following the incident, local residents assisted a team from Manda Police Station in conducting a raid to detain the accused, Amjad, who was discovered hiding in Bankura village. He is currently in custody at Manda Police Station.



KM Masud Rana, Officer-in-Charge of Manda Police Station, stated that an autopsy will be performed at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. After the procedure, the body will be handed over to Ashraful’s family for burial. A murder case is expected to be filed concerning the incident.
