Narsingdi: A mobile court in Narsingdi today took action against two private hospitals over mismanagement and unauthorized operations, sealing one facility and fining the other.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive targeted Narsingdi Lab Aid General Private Hospital and Narsingdi Ibn Sina General Private Hospital in the Tarowa area. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Masud Rana, with officials from the district administration, Civil Surgeon’s Office, police, and Ansar present.

During the inspection, Narsingdi Ibn Sina General Private Hospital was discovered to have an expired license since 2018. There were no duty doctors, pathologists, or technicians on-site, and the hospital environment was unhygienic. The hospital was fined Tk 130,000 and ordered to correct all irregularities within seven days and report back to authorities.

At Narsingdi Lab Aid General Private Hospital, officials and staff reportedly fled before the inspection. The hospital lacked a valid license, was unauthorized to operate a laboratory, and its operation theatre was unclean and unsafe. Critical deficiencies, including the absence of oxygen cylinders in the labor room and unusable beds, were noted. Consequently, the hospital was sealed and laboratory equipment was seized.

Executive Magistrate Masud Rana stated, “Under the instructions of the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and the Deputy Commissioner, we conducted this drive to ensure safe healthcare services for patients. Multiple irregularities were found, and immediate legal action has been taken. Strict measures will be enforced against any hospital operating without approval or violating regulations.”
