20 Arrested in RAB Member Motaleb Murder Case in Chattogram

Chattogram: A total of 20 absconding accused have been arrested in separate raids in connection with the murder case of RAB member DAD Abdul Motaleb in Jangal Salimpur, in the city. RAB-7 Chattogram has apprehended 13 of the accused, while District Police has captured the remaining 7.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release issued by RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain on Saturday detailed that on March 27, a joint operation team of RAB-7 and RAB-11 Narayananj conducted a raid in the Nabagram area under Kabirhat police station in Noakhali. During this operation, they successfully arrested accused number 29, Md. Parvez (35), from Udalia area under Pahartali police station. Additionally, on January 30, accused Md. Shahidul Islam (32) was apprehended from the Sholoshahar Gate No. 2 area under Panchlaish Police Station.



The arrests were part of a crackdown on a criminal gang involved in illegal activities in the Chattogram area. The police have been working to apprehend all members of the gang and bring them to justice. Cooperation between different law enforcement agencies has been crucial in the successful apprehension of the accused individuals.



The incident that led to these arrests occurred on January 19, in the Jungle Salimpur area, where miscreants attacked RAB members during an operation to apprehend armed terrorists. This attack resulted in injuries to four RAB members, and DAD Abdul Motaleb later succumbed to his injuries at Chattogram CMCH. A case was filed on January 22 by RAB-7 Chattogram with Sitakunda Police Station, naming 29 individuals for culpable homicide and 150-200 others as unknown accused. Subsequent operations have now led to the arrest of 20 suspects, who have been handed over to the relevant police station.
