UN Meeting: FM Highlights Impact of Global Oil Crisis on Developing Nations

New york: Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman has met UN Secretary General Ant³nio Guterres and highlighted the challenges faced by developing and vulnerable nations due to the ongoing global oil crisis and its disproportionate impact on poorer countries. On behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Dr Rahman extended an invitation to the Secretary-General to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time. The Secretary-General welcomed the invitation and expressed his appreciation.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the Secretary-General reaffirmed the United Nations’ unwavering support and solidarity with Bangladesh. He extended the support during a meeting held at the UN Headquarters in New York with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman. During the meeting, the Secretary-General extended his warm congratulations to the newly formed government of Bangladesh, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



The Secretary-General also highly commended Bangladesh for its continued humanitarian leadership and generosity in sheltering forcibly displaced Rohingya people. The discussions covered a range of contemporary global issues, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Bangladesh and the United Nations in addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development.
