Case Filed After Cumilla Bus Accident Claims 5 Lives, Assistance Provided to Families

Cumilla: A case has been filed following a tragic accident in Kala Kachua, Burichang Upazila, Cumilla, where a private car was hit by a bus on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, killing five people, including a husband, wife, two children, and the car driver.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the case was lodged at Burichang Police Station by Faisal Ahmed, the brother of deceased Jharna Begum, as confirmed by OC Lutfur Rahman on Friday evening. The district administration has extended financial assistance of Tk 25,000 each to the families of the deceased and Tk 15,000 each to those injured in the incident.



Locals reported that the private car was on the wrong side of the road, which led to the fatal collision near Miami Hotel on Thursday evening. The vehicle was reportedly heading towards Dhaka but had entered the Chattogram-bound lane to stop at the hotel for food.



OC Abdul Momin of Moynamati Highway Police stated that the case was filed against unidentified persons, and an investigation is ongoing. Preliminary information suggests the private car was on the wrong side, with more details expected to emerge following the probe.



Burichang Upazila Executive Officer Tanvir Ahmed highlighted that the administration provided a total of Tk 1,40,000 to the victims’ families and the injured. He also advised the families to apply for additional support from the BRTA Trustee Board.
