Cumilla: Five people, including four members of a family, lost their lives in a tragic accident when a bus collided with a private car on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Kalakachua, Cumilla. The incident occurred in front of Miami Hotel in the Burichang upazila on Thursday evening.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victims included Abdul Momin, aged 50, from Chatarpaiya village in Sonaimuri, Noakhali, his wife Jharna Begum, aged 40, their children Saif, aged 7, and Labiba, aged 18, along with the car driver Jamal Hossain, aged 52, from Barishal. The collision left the private car severely damaged, as confirmed by OC Abdul Momin of Mainamati Highway Police Station.
Eyewitnesses reported that a bus operated by Star Line Transport crashed into the private car, crushing it instantly. The five individuals, including the two children, were rushed to Cantonment General Hospital and Cumilla Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, four of them succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
OC Abdul Momin stated that the bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue. The vehicles involved in the accident have been removed from the highway, and legal proceedings are currently in progress to address the incident.
