Bagerhat Felicitates Freedom Fighters on Independence Day

Bagerhat: A reception and discussion meeting was held in Bagerhat on the occasion of Independence Day and National Day in honor of the freedom fighters and the family members of the martyred freedom fighters. The event took place at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium and was organized by the district administration.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bagerhat District Freedom Fighter Unit Command Convener Bir Muktijoddha Md Akbar Azad presided over the program, with Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten attending as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Mohammad Md. Hasan Chowdhury, Bagerhat Municipal Administrator Dr. Fakrul Islam, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Sarbika Mejbah Uddin as special guests.



Deputy Commissioner Md. Baten, speaking as the chief guest, emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of the freedom fighters. He stated that the nation’s independence is a result of the sacrifices made by these brave individuals and highlighted the need to pass on the spirit of the Liberation War to future generations. He also assured that the state remains committed to honoring the families of the martyred freedom fighters and is dedicated to their welfare.



Veteran Freedom Fighter MD Akbar Azad urged the youth to learn the accurate history of the Liberation War and encouraged them to contribute towards building a prosperous Bangladesh as envisioned by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. The event also featured floral greetings and honors for the freedom fighters and the families of the martyred.



The discussion meeting concluded with speakers underscoring the significance of Independence Day and calling for active participation in nation-building efforts inspired by the Liberation War’s ideals. Prior to the event, various ceremonies, including a flag hoisting at the Dashani Freedom Fighter Memorial, were organized by the district administration, police, political parties, and other organizations.
