Rajshahi: Opponents of Independence will remain hated forever, declared Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, as he expressed a firm stance against those who opposed the independence of the country. After paying tribute to the martyrs in Rajshahi on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day, Minu stated that those who resisted the country’s independence will remain hated by the nation forever. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists after placing a wreath at the Shaheed Memorial in front of the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner’s Office at 6:30 am on Thursday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mizanur Rahman Minu further added that just as the world harbors hatred for Hitler of Germany, people will forever hold the same animosity toward those who opposed independence. He emphasized that the sacrifices made by Bengalis for their mother language are rare in the world and highlighted that the victory attained through armed struggle against the Pakistani occupation forces has established the Bengali nation as a proud one on the world stage. He called on everyone to remain united to preserve these achievements.

Concerning the current government’s goals, Minu stated that even after a long time since independence, it is crucial to further strengthen democracy while preserving the country’s sovereignty. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he expressed a commitment to moving the country forward while upholding the spirit of the War of Liberation. Additionally, he emphasized that creating employment opportunities for millions of unemployed youths and building a hunger- and poverty-free Bangladesh is a sacred responsibility of the government.

Earlier, Minu paid tribute to the martyrs of the great war of liberation by placing a wreath at the Shaheed Memorial. The event was attended by Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Mahfuzur Rahman, Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid, Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Muhammad Shahjahan, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Dr. Zillur Rahman, and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Afia Akhter, among others.
