Bogura: Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman today called upon journalists to maintain professionalism to uphold the dignity and reputation of their noble profession. He made this remark as the chief guest at a discussion on 'Journalism of previous period and current time' organized to enhance the professional skills of young journalists at a hotel in the district town.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ruman emphasized Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's commitment to the development of Bogura, highlighting plans to introduce undergraduate-level studies in journalism in the district. He also mentioned discussing with relevant authorities about establishing a branch of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) in Bogura, along with organizing basic training programs for local journalists.
The event was chaired by Abul Kalam Azad, convener of the local journalists' community of the 1990s and general secretary of the Bogura Press Club. Special guests included Mozammel Haque Lalu, editor of the Dainik Karatoa, and Rezaul Hasan Ranu, president of the Bogura Press Club.
The discussion also featured contributions from Dr. Khandakar Alamgir Hossain, executive director of Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK); Engineer Md. Shahabuddin Saikat, president of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) Bogura; and Suman Talukdar, news editor of Star News. Moderated by senior journalist Mohan Akhand, the event saw participation from around 50 young journalists from the new generation.
