Rajshahi: The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has initiated a special 15-day program aimed at alleviating the mosquito problem in the city. The program was officially started in the Bhadra residential area by RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, who inaugurated the activities around 12:30 PM on March 18.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initiative commenced with efforts to clean drains and bushes, followed by the application of fogging techniques using fogger machines. Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, while addressing journalists, mentioned that due to the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, mosquito control efforts will be confined to the morning hours for the time being.
The program is structured to cover five wards of the city each day in a phased manner, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire city in a short span of time. Administrator Riton also noted that after the conclusion of this special 15-day program, the situation will be assessed, and similar initiatives might be considered again to manage mosquito breeding and ensure the comfort of residents.
Present at the launch event was Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun Dollar, along with other staff members tasked with executing the program. Officials are hopeful that this RCC initiative will bring much-needed relief to the residents of Rajshahi.
Local residents have shared their optimism, expressing hope that the reintroduction of fogger machine use, after a significant hiatus, will effectively curb mosquito infestation in the area.
