Ex-Councillor Mintu Remanded Over Khaleda Motorcade Attack

Dhaka: A court here today placed former councillor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward-40, Abul Kalam Azad Mintu on a two-day remand in a case lodged over an attack on the motorcade of then BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the capital in 2015.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana passed the order as police produced Mintu before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand.

Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia went to Kawran Bazar area in the capital on April 22, 2015, for taking part in an election campaign for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayoral candidate Tabith Awal. A group of hooligans attacked her motorcade as it reached Bangla Motor Signal at around 5.30 pm.

The case was filed on October 10, 2024, against 106 including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
