Bagerhat: A mobile court demolished 11 illegal brick kilns in Bagerhat Sadar upazila on Thursday during a drive conducted by the Department of Environment (DoE). Officials stated that the kilns were operating without environmental clearance and were using banned firewood as fuel.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive was led by Executive Magistrate Momtaz Begum from the Khulna Divisional Office of the DoE. The initiative was taken by Deputy Director Asadur Rahman of the department's Bagerhat District Office. Police and Fire Service personnel provided assistance during the operation.
Officials mentioned that similar drives will continue in the district as part of ongoing efforts to stop illegal brick kiln operations and protect the environment.
