Dhaka: Launch and steamer services will be introduced on several new river routes from March 17 to ease passenger travel during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, regular vessel operations on the routes will start from that date.
Launch and steamer services will operate on the Shimulia-Demra-Chandpur-Barishal route from the Shimulia Tourist Ghat near Kanchan Bridge, and on the Bosila-Sadarghat-Ilisha-Galachipa route from the Bosila launch terminal in Dhaka.
These new routes aim to facilitate smoother and more efficient travel for passengers during one of the busiest times of the year. The introduction of these services is expected to significantly reduce the congestion typically experienced during the holiday period.
