Dhaka: The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation is set to take place at 8:30 am at the National Eidgah located on the High Court premises in the capital city on the day of Eid. In the event of inclement weather, the congregation will instead be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9 am.

According to United News of Bangladesh, this decision was reached during a recent inter-ministerial meeting. This meeting was convened in the conference room of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and was chaired by Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad. The celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival for Muslims, is dependent on the sighting of the moon and is expected to occur on either March 20 or March 21.

The meeting concluded with the formation of a six-member committee, led by the Director General of the Islamic Foundation, to promptly decide on relocating the main Eid congregation to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque if severe weather conditions arise. Additionally, the Islamic Foundation is tasked with submitting a list of three eminent Islamic scholars for the role of imam, three renowned Qaris for the recitation of the Holy Quran, and three presenters to manage the Eid congregation. From this list, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will select one imam and an alternate, one Qari and an alternate, and one presenter and an alternate for the main Eid congregation.
