Dhaka: Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh Reto Renggli today met Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at his office at the Secretariat. The meeting aimed to discuss and enhance the cooperative efforts between Switzerland and Bangladesh, focusing on rural development and other key sectors.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ambassador Renggli began the meeting by congratulating Minister Mirza Fakhrul on his electoral victory in the 13th National Parliament elections. The ambassador reiterated Switzerland’s interest in continuing and expanding its cooperation in Bangladesh’s rural development sector, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral ties.
During the discussion, the ambassador expressed a desire to establish positive and forward-looking relations based on mutual benefit. He also showed optimism about enhancing partnerships, particularly in education and technology. This aligns with Bangladesh’s goals for institutional and democratic progress, for which Switzerland is considered a key partner.
Minister Mirza Fakhrul emphasized Switzerland’s role in supporting Bangladesh’s progress and expressed hopes for increased cooperation in the future. He extended an invitation to the Swiss delegation to visit local government institutions in Bangladesh to witness ongoing developments.
The meeting covered various topics, including the overall situation in Bangladesh, bilateral relations, trade and investment expansion, rural development activities, climate change challenges, and diplomatic cooperation. Both parties expressed hope that mutual cooperation would accelerate the development and progress of both nations.
