Dhaka: Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the monitoring of the primary education system would be grounded up to solidify the basic education of children. ‘Close observation and monitoring to improve the quality of education will be strengthened starting from primary education,’ he told a view exchange meeting of Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) officials here.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Milon emphasized that necessary steps would be taken to increase motivation as the fundamental foundation of education begins at the primary school level. The minister highlighted that achieving desired outcomes in education was not possible without implementing proper plans to infuse dynamism and accountability in the education sector.

He mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman placed the highest priority on education and would hold a review meeting on educational matters every Saturday. ‘The progress of the entire week’s work must be presented before him,’ Milon said, urging officials to strengthen field-level activities and work with more dedication from their respective positions to improve education quality.

Milon noted that while infrastructure development received more emphasis in the past, special focus would now be placed on ensuring quality education. He called for a serious review of the implementation status of the ministry’s previous projects to assess how far their missions and visions were achieved.

Addressing various demands and grievances of the officers and employees, the minister assured that ‘reasonable demands will be addressed gradually.’ He expressed hope that the budget would increase, facilitating the overall development of education.

DPE’s Director General Abu Nur Md. Shamsuzzaman chaired the meeting, which was attended by senior and field-level officials of the directorate.
