Narcotics Control Inspector Injured in Gun Attack in Dhaka

Dhaka: An inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) was shot and injured in an attack allegedly by drug peddlers at Saidabad Bus Terminal in the capital on Monday. The victim was identified as Siddiqur Rahman, 38.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Rajiur Rahman, Deputy Director of DNC (South Circle), stated that as part of an anti-narcotics drive, seven teams were conducting operations in different areas on the day of the incident. One team identified three drug traders in the Saidabad rail line area around noon.



When the team attempted to detain one of the suspects, a drug peddler fired four rounds of bullets targeting the team and then fled the scene, leaving Siddiqur injured. The inspector received bullet injuries below the knee of his left leg.



Siddiqur Rahman was subsequently taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
