Gazipur: Seven police personnel were injured during an attack while attempting to arrest an alleged abductor after rescuing a kidnapped teenage girl in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district. The incident occurred as the police team, comprising members from Tangail Sadar Police Station and Sreepur Police Station, carried out a drive in Nijmaona village.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the operation aimed to apprehend the main accused, Adil, and his father Monir Hossain, in connection with a kidnapping case filed at Tangail Sadar Police Station. During the operation, police successfully detained both accused individuals and rescued the abducted girl.
However, the situation escalated when relatives of the detainees, along with local residents, attacked the police team. The assailants managed to snatch the two accused from police custody, despite them being handcuffed, resulting in injuries to seven officers.
Subsequently, additional police forces were dispatched to the scene, successfully re-arresting the two accused and ensuring the safety of the rescued girl. Police also detained four additional individuals related to the incident, as confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Police Station.
