Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has declared that Bangladesh does not want to see any killings at its borders. “We don’t want to see any killing at the borders. . . . The Indian side said they are also sincere about the matter,” he stated during a meeting.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the remarks were made when Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma paid a courtesy visit to Ahmed’s office. The discussions emphasized the importance of ongoing engagement between the two border security forces, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF), suggesting that many unresolved issues could be addressed through dialogue.

During the meeting, a range of bilateral issues were discussed, including trade and business, people-to-people connections, and border security. Ahmed, who is also a Standing Committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), expressed the desire for relations with India to be founded on mutual respect and dignity. “We want a bilateral relationship based on mutual respect and dignity,” he added.
