Govt Plans Major Infrastructure Developments in Rajbari

Rajbari: State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam announced that the government plans to build a public university, a river port, a cantonment, and a railway workshop in the district. The announcement was made during a view exchange meeting with district administration officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling electoral pledges, which include constructing the Padma Bridge and Padma Barrage. Efforts are ongoing to realize these infrastructure projects.



Addressing health sector challenges, Khaiyam highlighted the need for urgent solutions to alleged irregularities and mismanagement in the district hospital. He pointed out that healthcare services are insufficient and stressed the importance of implementing appropriate measures to resolve these issues effectively.



Khaiyam also addressed the law and order situation, acknowledging that it remains unsatisfactory. He issued a stern warning to extortionists and drug traders, stating that there would be no leniency and urging police cooperation to eradicate drugs from the district. He emphasized that extortionists, terrorists, and drug traders would not be tolerated, regardless of political affiliations.



The state minister also addressed concerns about illegal land and house grabs, warning that any such attempts would lead to legal action. He assured that law enforcement agencies would handle offenders decisively.



The meeting was part of the monthly District Development Committee gathering, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akter. Other notable attendees included Rajbari-2 Member of Parliament Harunur Rashid Harun, Vice-President of Rajbari District unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Professor Manzurul Alam Dulal, and President of the District Teachers’ Association Gazi Ahsan Habib.
