JnU Halls to Be Recovered by Resolving Legal Complications: MP Hamid

Dhaka: Hamidur Rahman Hamid, Member of Parliament (MP) for Dhaka-7 constituency, has announced that necessary steps will be taken to address the legal issues hindering the recovery of Jagannath University halls currently under illegal occupation. He emphasized the government’s support and pledged to implement effective strategies in collaboration with all relevant parties to reclaim the old halls.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Hamid made these remarks while attending an Iftar and doa mahfil organized by the Jagannath University Teachers’ Association during the holy month of Ramadan. The event took place on Thursday at Star Hotel and Restaurant.



Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, speaking as a special guest, highlighted the pride felt within the university community due to Hamid’s status as a former student. He expressed confidence in Hamid’s potential to significantly contribute to the university’s development and noted that the MP could assist in amending certain inconsistencies in the Jagannath University Act.



University Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmin remarked on the importance of Iftar gatherings in fostering harmony and mutual understanding within the university community. She anticipated that the Teachers’ Association would continue to support the administration in advancing the university’s welfare.



In his presidential address, Teachers’ Association President Professor Dr. Md. Roich Uddin stressed the importance of unity within the university. He expressed optimism that the current government would enhance facilities and opportunities for the university. He also conveyed hope that, under MP Hamid’s leadership, legal challenges would be resolved, leading to the successful recovery of the illegally occupied halls.



The event was attended by several notable figures, including the General Secretary of the Teachers’ Association Professor Dr. Imranul Haque, Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, various faculty deans, institute directors, department chairpersons, university staff, JnUCSU representatives, journalists, student organization leaders, and other members of the university community.
