Seminar Highlights Potential of Bangladeshi Leather Goods in Korean Market

Seoul: Executive vice-president of Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), Kwon Ki-chang, emphasized the significant potential of high-quality Bangladeshi leather goods in the Korean market, citing their growing popularity among fashion-conscious Korean youths. He made these remarks during a seminar focused on strengthening bilateral trade relations and enhancing the export of Bangladeshi leather, leather goods, and footwear to South Korea.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seminar, titled ‘Bangladesh: Your New High-Value Partner of Quality Leather Goods and Footwear,’ took place in Seoul at a local hotel. The event was attended by a seven-member delegation from Bangladesh, led by Syed Nasim Manzur, president of the Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB). Approximately 30 representatives from leading Korean exporters and manufacturing organizations participated in the event.

During the seminar’s inaugural session, Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea, Toufiq Islam Shatil, highlighted the long-standing trade and commercial relations between Bangladesh and South Korea. He noted that leather goods and footwear are pivotal export sectors for both nations, and the seminar is expected to play a crucial role in expanding the market for Bangladeshi leather goods in South Korea.

Minsuhk Lee, president of Youngone Corporation, shared insights and presented on the commercial success achieved by their organization in Bangladesh and the Korean Export Processing Zone (EPZ). In the seminar’s technical session, LFMEAB president Syed Nasim Manzur delivered the keynote address. He discussed the capabilities of Bangladesh’s leather industry, focusing on quality assurance, compliance, foreign investment success, innovative practices, export trends, demographic advantages, and the commercial benefits derived from the country’s geographical position.
