Bandarban: On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Bangladesh Army has commenced the distribution of iftar items to impoverished and underprivileged families in the Bandarban district. This initiative is part of the army's efforts to support the local community during this significant time of the year.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bandarban Army Zone spearheaded the initiative, distributing iftar materials at the District Sadar Army Zone ground. The programme was graced by the presence of Deputy Commander Major Nafiu Siddiqui Roman, who attended as the chief guest.
The event saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Sadar Zone Staff Officer Major Rabiul Islam, imams from different mosques and orphanages, as well as representatives from print and electronic media. Beneficiaries from various parts of the district were also present to receive the iftar materials.
Deputy Commander Major Nafiu Siddiqui Roman addressed the gathering, emphasizing the army's commitment to aiding the poor, helpless, and hardworking individuals during Ramadan. He highlighted the dual role of the Bangladesh Army in maintaining security in the hilly regions and contributing to the socio-economic advancement of local communities.
The programme featured the distribution of essential iftar items such as rice, pulses, muri, gram, cooking oil, and dates. These were distributed to 500 families and officials from different madrasas and orphanages under the Sadar Zone. Major Roman assured that such humanitarian activities would continue in the future, reinforcing the army's dedication to public welfare.
