Dhaka: A mild earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted several parts of the country, including the capital, at noon today. The tremor was recorded at 12:04:05 pm (BST) with its epicentre situated in Gyalshing of West Sikkim, India, approximately 455 kilometres northwest of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's seismic monitoring centre in Agargaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BMD meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana provided details about the recent seismic activity. Just last night, a moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale had affected different parts of the country. The epicentre of that quake was located in Myanmar, about 462 kilometres east of the BMD seismic centre in Agargaon.
