Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested three individuals accused in the murder of a Laguna driver in Jatrabari, a locality in the capital. The incident has drawn significant attention due to the nature of the crime and the swift action taken by law enforcement.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the conflict began a few days before the murder, when an argument occurred between the accused, Md Hridoy Hossain, 24, and the victim, Md Nure Alam Islam alias Khairul, 35. The dispute, centered on picking up passengers at a Laguna stand on the Jatrabari-Chittagong Road route, escalated when Hossain allegedly issued threats against Islam.
The fatal incident occurred on February 20, around 2:45 PM, when Islam was driving his Laguna near Sufia Garments on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway. It was here that Hossain and his associates allegedly launched a premeditated attack, leaving Islam critically injured. He was transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where medical personnel declared him dead.
In response, a murder case was promptly filed with Jatrabari Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). As part of the ongoing investigation, RAB-10’s CPC-1 Jatrabari Camp carried out a special operation on February 21 in the Kutubkhali Fish Market area, leading to the arrest of the fifth accused, Md Sohan Munshi, 29, within 12 hours of the case being lodged.
Further operations on February 23 resulted in the capture of the first accused, Md Hridoy Hossain, at Dayaganj intersection, and the third accused, Md Shakil, 29, from Mir Hazirbagh Pipe Road area. The apprehended individuals have been transferred to the relevant police station for further legal proceedings.
