Rangpur: Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RpCCI) has distributed hygiene products among hotel and restaurant employees with the aim of serving healthy Iftar items to consumers during the holy month of Ramadan. On Thursday afternoon, Vice-president Md Enamul Haque Sohel inaugurated the programme by cutting a ribbon at Mezban Hotel and Restaurant premises in the Dhap area of the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event saw the participation of notable figures including Chamber Vice-president Zulfiquer Aziz Khan Bhuttu, Director Kamal Hossain, Partho Bose, and Mamunur Rashid, among others. The initiative involved the distribution of kitchen aprons, chupi, hand gloves, and masks to employees engaged in preparing and serving Iftar in seven upazilas of Rangpur district and 180 hotels and restaurants in the city.
Enamul Haque Sohel emphasized the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to distributing hygiene protection materials to hotels and restaurants each year. He stated that the Chamber is actively monitoring various establishments to ensure the sale of quality Iftar. “I hope that this time during Ramadan, traders will be able to sell healthy Iftar to the customers,” he said.
Meanwhile, a large crowd of customers has been observed at Iftar shops on the first day of Ramadan across Rangpur city. Vendors have prepared a range of Iftar items to meet customer demand, including Bundia, Jilapi, Chhota, Piyaji, Beguni, Potato Chop, Egg Chop, Shahi Jilapi, Chikon Jilapi, and various types of Kebab and Grill.
Talking to BSS, bakery owners and hotel and restaurant operators noted the significant customer turnout on the first day of Ramadan. “We have prepared Iftar items in a healthy manner. I hope business will be good throughout Ramadan,” said Nurul Haque Munna, owner of Mohua bakery in the city’s Kachari Bazar area.
