Dhaka: Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury on Wednesday emphasised the necessity for the government to align its efforts with public expectations, highlighting the importance of coordinated teamwork within the ministry to achieve success.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the minister made these remarks during an introductory meeting with officials and employees at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, marking his first working day following his oath-taking. Ariful Haque Chowdhury outlined the ministry’s intention to review past activities to identify gaps and establish clear targets for the upcoming 100 days. He stressed the importance of creating a roadmap to guide their efforts within this period.
The minister encouraged officials to share their experiences and insights, assuring them that all operations would adhere to the Rules of Business and existing regulations. He requested clear communication from the team regarding any needs that may arise.
As the month of Ramadan approaches, the minister highlighted the necessity of taking proactive measures to prevent labour unrest in labour-intensive sectors and factories, particularly as Eid-ul-Fitr draws near. This preparation is aimed at ensuring stability during the final days of Ramadan.
State Minister Md Nurul Haque, also speaking at the meeting, suggested the development of a three-month work plan to clearly showcase the ministry’s achievements in that time frame. He pointed out that labour movements often occur around Eid, underlining the importance of early intervention to address potential issues.
Labour and Employment Secretary Sarwar Jahan Bhuiyan, along with senior officials from the ministry and its associated departments and agencies, were in attendance at the meeting.
