Dhaka: Newly appointed Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister of Science and Technology, Faqir Mahbub Anam, today announced that transparency and accountability will be the core principles guiding the country’s ICT sector.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized this commitment while addressing a reception hosted by the ICT Division in Agargaon, Dhaka. He underscored the necessity of professionalism and sincerity among officials to effectively implement the government’s policies in the ICT sector.
Highlighting the significance of the ICT sector, Anam noted the government’s prioritization of expanding ICT services to every upazila, aiming to make technological facilities easily accessible to citizens nationwide. He urged officials to perform their duties with responsibility and collaborate to achieve the government’s objectives.
Anam further stated that the new government seeks to earn public trust through tangible progress and effective initiatives, reinforcing that the Prime Minister prioritizes visible results. He called for cooperation from officials to advance the ICT sector under a transparent and dynamic policy framework.
Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division, welcomed the minister and highlighted the division’s role in the country’s digital transformation. He detailed ongoing projects such as ICT laws and policies, data centers, hi-tech parks, digital services, startup support, cybersecurity, and manpower development. Chowdhury expressed optimism that, under the minister’s leadership, the division would collectively implement government policies with a focus on transparency and accountability.
Senior ICT Division officials and department heads attended the function, reaffirming their commitment to the ministry’s new direction.
