Lalmonirhat to Observe Int’l Mother Language Day with Comprehensive Programs

Lalmonirhat: The district administration has outlined a series of programs to observe ‘Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, 2026′ in Lalmonirhat district on February 21. The observance will commence with the placement of wreaths at the Lalmonirhat Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am, marking the first hour of the day, as informed by a press note from the Rangpur Regional PID Office.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast across all government, semi-government, private, and autonomous institutions, as well as private buildings, at sunrise. A morning procession will also take place from each institution to the Central Shaheed Minar in Lalmonirhat district town.



At 10 am, a drawing, rhyme, and poetry recitation competition for children will be held at the Lalmonirhat Collectorate Collegiate School. Subsequently, at 11 am, a graffiti drawing and exhibition depicting the 2024 mass uprising, along with a handwriting, composition, and painting competition for children and adolescents, will occur at the Lalmonirhat District Government Library.



To commemorate International Mother Language Day, a discussion meeting and award ceremony will be hosted at 11:30 am in the conference room of the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner, honoring the martyrs of the language movement. Special prayers will be offered in mosques post-Zuhr and in other places of worship at suitable times.



Additionally, the Lalmonirhat Central Shaheed Minar and Mission Mour Chattar area will be adorned with colorful festoons. The Lalmonirhat Shishu Park will be accessible for children from morning to evening, offering free exhibitions to mark the day.
