Dhaka: National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser (South Region) Hasnat Abdullah has declared there can be no compromise over the issue concerning Nasiruddin Patwary, who is contesting from Dhaka-8 constituency. In a post on his verified Facebook account, Hasnat issued this warning although he did not provide further details. The statement is believed to imply that Nasiruddin Patwary, a fellow NCP leader, secured his own election victory in the Dhaka-8 constituency against BNP stalwart Mirza Abbas.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Hasnat Abdullah himself contested the Cumilla-4 seat and was successfully elected to parliament following the election held on Thursday. Hasnat ran under the NCP’s Shapla Koli symbol as part of an alliance with Jamaat e Islami, garnering 160,081 votes. His closest competitor, Jasim Uddin, who contested with the Truck symbol, received 49,845 votes, based on unofficial tallies from the Election Commission.
