Gopalganj: Three people including a teenage girl were injured as miscreants hurled several crude bombs at a polling centre in Gopalganj Sadar upazila during voting on Thursday morning. The injured were identified as Ansar members Sukanta Majumdar and Jamal Hossain, as well as 14-year-old Amena Khanam, daughter of Assaf Ali from the Arambagh area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred around 9:30am at the Reshma International School polling centre. Sub-Inspector Zahidul Islam, who was on duty at the centre, reported that the explosion left the two Ansar members and the girl, who was accompanying a voter, injured. They received primary treatment at a local clinic and their condition is stable, police confirmed.
The blast partially damaged the main gate of the polling centre. Police have collected evidence from the site to aid in the investigation. In response to the attack, additional law enforcers have been deployed at the polling centre to ensure security.
