Thakurgaon: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today cast his vote at Thakurgaon Government Girls High School Centre after offering prayers at the grave of his parents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul addressed local journalists, stating that a new journey of democracy has begun and expressed hope for a smooth path leading the nation’s politics, economy, and country towards its intended goal. He emphasized the significance of the day, highlighting the struggles and sacrifices made over 17 years, including numerous lives lost and cases of oppression, to secure the right to vote for the people.
Fakhrul expressed optimism that the election would be fair, free, and impartial, marking a new chapter for Bangladesh. In response to queries about some unpleasant incidents the previous night, he attributed them to malevolent forces aiming to sabotage the elections and expressed hope for their defeat.
The BNP Secretary General reiterated his confidence in victory under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, with aspirations for establishing good governance and a robust democratic system in the country.
