Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today extended his heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the entire nation as the voting of the 13th national parliamentary election and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter concluded in a peaceful, orderly, and festive environment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser emphasized the significance of the event, noting the spontaneous participation of voters, the responsible conduct of political parties, and the professionalism of all institutions involved, which collectively showcased the nation’s unwavering commitment to democracy. In a statement issued by his press wing, Prof Yunus highlighted the active role citizens played in determining the country’s future through the exercise of their constitutional rights.
Prof Yunus expressed special thanks to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration, observer teams, media personnel, and all officers and staff involved in the voting process, acknowledging their dedication and hard work in making the democratic event possible. He urged political parties and candidates to uphold democratic decency, tolerance, and mutual respect even after the final results are announced, stressing the importance of unity in the national interest despite differing opinions.
The Chief Adviser remarked that Bangladesh has once again demonstrated that the people are the source of all power, and he expressed optimism about moving forward collectively toward building an accountable, inclusive, and justice-based state. He described the election as a moment of great joy and celebration, marking the beginning of an unprecedented journey for a new Bangladesh.
Prof Yunus also noted that the election was the most peaceful and festive in the country’s history and expressed hope that maintaining this continuity would allow democracy to reach its pinnacle. He called upon everyone to work together to strengthen democracy further.
