Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is set to address the nation at 7 pm today as the country prepares for the 13th national parliamentary election and a concurrent referendum scheduled for tomorrow. His address will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar, with private television channels and radio stations also relaying the speech through BTV's feed. This was confirmed by Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick, Director (Public Relations) and Chief Information Officer of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat, to BSS.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC's speech will include critical directives concerning the overall preparations for the polls, insights into the law and order situation, and detailed voting procedures. He is expected to emphasize the final measures implemented by the Election Commission to ensure the elections are free, fair, impartial, and credible. Additionally, the CEC will seek full cooperation from political parties, candidates, voters, and officials involved in election duties to facilitate a smooth electoral process.
The 13th national parliamentary election and the referendum are set to take place across the country tomorrow, with voting scheduled to commence at 7:30 am and continue uninterrupted until 4:30 pm.
