Breastfeeding Centers Being Set Up in 5 Ctg Points: Dr Shahadat

Chattogram: Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), has announced the establishment of five breastfeeding centers across the city to create a mother and child-friendly environment. He made this announcement during the inauguration of the breastfeeding center project at the Shah Amanat Bridge Police Box area, where he served as the chief guest.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized the need to provide support for working or outside mothers who face challenges in breastfeeding their children. To address this issue, the city has initiated the setup of breastfeeding centers in key locations with high foot traffic. The five planned breastfeeding centers will be located in New Bridge, Patenga, Kadamtali Factory Area, Agrabad, and the Railway Station.



The project is estimated to cost Taka 1.6 crore, with funding provided by the Dakbox Foundation and the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC). The Mayor noted that if the initial project proves successful, additional centers will be established in key locations of the city in phases. He also highlighted ongoing development initiatives aimed at making Chattogram a health-friendly and modern city. These initiatives include waterlogging relief, canal restoration, waste management, school health programs, sports field modernization, and citizen healthcare expansion.



The event was attended by various notable figures, including actor Ziaul Hoque Palash, Chairman of Dakbox Foundation, City BNP member Abdul Karim Bhutto, City Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Salahuddin Shahed, City Swachasebok Dal Joint Convener N. Mohammad Rimon, Halishahar BNP Senior Vice-President Sheikh Mehedi, and City Swachasebok Dal member Noman Sikder Sohag.



Safrash Nuri Sizzi, chief coordinator of the Dakbox Foundation Breastfeeding Center Project, outlined the project’s activities and future plans during the event.
