Rajshahi: The Dean’s Awards for the years 2023 and 2024 of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at Rajshahi University (RU) were presented today (Monday). The award-giving ceremony was held at the Faculty of Engineering Gallery, where the Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib attended as the chief guest and presented the awards to the meritorious teachers and students. The event was presided over by Prof Md. Golam Mortuza, dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, while conferring the Dean’s Awards on the distinguished teachers and students, the VC said that talent never flourishes without recognition. Through the Dean’s Awards, the Faculty of Biological Sciences has not only acknowledged excellence but also inspired promising teachers and students to showcase their achievements, he added. Prof Naqib said the presentation of these awards would serve as an example for the overall enhancement of academic excellence among teachers and students.
At the ceremony, one teacher from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology received the Dean’s Award for excellence in research. In addition, two students from the same department were awarded for securing top positions among the five departments under the faculty in the Bachelor’s (Honours) examinations. Furthermore, Dean’s Awards were presented to two students from the Department of Psychology, two from the Department of Botany, two from the Department of Zoology, one from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, and two from the Department of Clinical Psychology for achieving the highest CGPA in their respective departments in the Bachelor’s (Honours) examinations.
