Naogaon: Principal Mahbubul Alam, the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Naogaon-1, has announced comprehensive plans to tackle unemployment and improve agricultural practices in his constituency. As an area primarily driven by agriculture, Alam emphasized the need for initiatives that secure fair pricing for farmers’ crops and the implementation of scientific farming methods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Principal Mahbubul Alam detailed his electoral commitments in a recent interview. He outlined strategies aimed at transforming the agricultural landscape and providing substantial employment opportunities for the youth. Alam pledged to establish ICT centers at the union and upazila levels, enabling educated young individuals to acquire skills for employment both domestically and internationally.
In addition to addressing unemployment, Alam promised to enhance healthcare services within the region, which includes the Sapahar, Porsha, and Niamatpur upazilas. Plans include the modernization of hospitals and health centers across the constituency. Infrastructure development is also on the agenda, with Alam vowing to pave numerous unpaved roads in Naogaon-1.
The candidate assured voters of his party’s adherence to the electoral code of conduct, emphasizing the importance of lawful campaigning and public awareness regarding the voting process. While he refrained from commenting on the referendum concerning the ‘July Charter,’ Alam expressed confidence in securing a decisive victory in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
Naogaon-1, with its significant ethnic minority population, has historically been a pivotal area in national elections. The constituency faces competition from several notable candidates, including BNP’s Mostafizur Rahman, independent Dr. Salek Chowdhury, Abdul Haque Shah from Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and Jatiya Party’s Akbar Ali. The voter base consists of 456,169 individuals, comprising 235,380 men, 238,683 women, and four third-gender voters.
