Dhaka: The Ministry of Education has started the initial process of enrolling 1,719 private educational institutions (schools and colleges) across the country in the first phase of MPO.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry has sent a letter to the Finance Department seeking consent for the MPO enrollment of those institutions, which have been evaluated using automated software. This information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the ministry today.
The release detailed that a total of 3,615 applications were submitted following the invitation for applications in line with the ‘Private Educational Institutions (schools and colleges) Manpower Structure and MPO Policy-2025’. Among these applications, 859 were from lower secondary level, 1,170 from secondary level, 687 from higher secondary level, 440 from undergraduate (pass) level, 414 from undergraduate (honors) level, and 45 from postgraduate level institutions.
The Ministry of Education stated that, based on the criteria, regional parity, and grading set out in the policy, 1,719 institutions have been initially identified as eligible for MPO inclusion in the first phase. The notification further explained that before finalizing the list, the information provided in the applications will be verified through various online databases, including those of the Ministry of Land, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, the concerned education board, and the National University. Additionally, on-site investigations will be conducted if necessary.
The ministry emphasized that the entire MPO registration process is being executed with utmost transparency, utilizing automated software to eliminate any scope for personal communication or financial transactions. The notification also urged individuals to report any unethical contact or complaints to the Department of Secondary and Higher Education via a specified WhatsApp number (+8801339-774528).
