Nilphamari: BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today declared that future politics in Bangladesh will focus on rebuilding the state. He emphasized inclusivity, stating that the nation should advance with contributions from Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians alike. He stressed the importance of valuing individuals based on merit and qualifications rather than caste or religion.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman made these remarks while addressing an election rally at Nilphamari Town ground. He highlighted the longstanding struggle to establish people's rights and asserted that the time has come to actualize these rights. Priorities include rebuilding the country, creating employment for young people, and ensuring education for millions of children.
Reflecting on the movement for voting rights, Rahman accused one party of robbing citizens' voting rights and acknowledged the sacrifices made by many in reclaiming these rights. He urged people to view the upcoming election as a pivotal moment for nation-building, beyond merely exercising voting rights.
Discussing local development, Tarique Rahman proposed extending the Uttara EPZ and establishing more factories to create job opportunities in the area. He pledged to empower women if the 'Paddy Sheaf' wins the February 12 election and outlined plans to support farmers with Krishak Cards for easier access to agricultural inputs.
He also reiterated the commitment to implementing the Teesta Master Plan, a critical initiative for transforming the region into fertile cropland. Other development plans mentioned included upgrading Nilphamari Government Medical College, enhancing Syedpur Airport to international standards, and improving the Syedpur Railway Workshop.
The rally was presided over by Nilphamari District BNP Convener Mir Selim Faruq, with AHM Saifullah Rubel moderating. Several BNP officials and candidates, including Selima Islam and Rafiqul Islam, were in attendance. Tarique Rahman arrived by helicopter, addressed the rally, and then departed for Birampur in Dinajpur district.
