Dhaka: Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder has announced that the interim government will transfer power to newly elected representatives immediately after the general election scheduled for February 12.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Azad dismissed claims suggesting the interim government plans to extend its tenure by another 180 working days post-election, labeling these assertions as stemming from 'dishonest intentions'. He noted that the same factions had previously attempted to undermine the credibility of the electoral process.

Azad emphasized that as the certainty of the scheduled election becomes clearer, these groups are resorting to spreading new conspiracy theories. He expressed concern that even well-educated individuals are being swayed by such misleading propaganda, despite there being no grounds for confusion.

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has recently affirmed that Bangladesh is well-prepared to conduct a 'free, fair, and peaceful' election on February 12.
