Dhaka: Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud today stated that the Election Commission will take appropriate action against any officials or law enforcement members who violate the code of conduct during election duties. Speaking at a press briefing at Nirbachan Bhaban in the Agargaon area of the city, he emphasized the commission’s commitment to investigating any serious complaints directly and following due process.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Masud highlighted that any violations or indications of bias by individuals involved in election duties can be reported to the Inquiry and Adjudication Committee of the Election Commission (EC). He reiterated that serious complaints would be directly acknowledged by the commission and subjected to thorough investigation, with appropriate actions being taken based on the findings.
Masud expressed confidence in the current election environment, noting that it is comparatively quite good. He appealed to the leaders and activists of all political parties to support the commission in maintaining a fair and pleasant election atmosphere.
Furthermore, Masud extended his condolences over the death of Nuruzzaman Badol, a candidate from the Sherpur-3 constituency. He announced that following Badol’s death, the Election Commission has postponed the elections in the Sherpur-3 (Shribordi-Jhenaigati) constituency. A fresh schedule for the constituency will be announced in due course.
