Dhaka: A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque and eight other individuals in connection with an alleged illegal acquisition of a residential plot. The decision was made by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Faiz, following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), as confirmed by court bench assistant Md Riaz Hossain.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the travel ban was sought by ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya through an application filed earlier on Monday. The ban targets Khairul Haque and several former officials associated with RAJUK, including its former chairman Engineer Md Nurul Huda. Other individuals affected by the ban are AIM Golam Kibria, Md Abu Bakar Sikder, Md Anwarul Islam Sikder, Akhtar Hossain Bhuiyan, M Mahbubul Alam, and Nazmul Hai.
The case against Khairul Haque and the others dates back to August 6 of the previous year. The ACC alleges that the individuals involved obtained a 10-katha plot by providing false information. The court’s decision reflects ongoing efforts to address allegations of corruption related to land acquisition processes.
