Dhaka: A man lost his life after being struck by a pickup van in the Hatirjheel area of the capital early Monday. The victim, identified as Abdul Hanif Khan, 45, was the son of Rafiqul Khan from Babuganj upazila in Barishal and had been residing in a rented house in Hatirjheel.
According to United News of Bangladesh, a witness, Kamruzzaman, reported that the incident occurred when the pickup van hit Hanif as he was crossing the road in front of Hatirjheel Gate No. 2. The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the impact. Hanif was promptly taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition at around 12:45 am, where medical professionals declared him dead.
Inspector Md Faruk, who is in charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed that Hanif's body is being held at the hospital morgue. Hatirjheel Police Station has been notified of the accident, he stated.
