Chattogram: Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP's standing committee and candidate for the paddy sheaf in the Chattogram-11 constituency, has announced the BNP's ambitious plans for the development of sports in the country. He made this declaration during a discussion titled 'Future of Sports in Chattogram,' which took place at the Shaheed Fazlur Rahman Auditorium in Chattogram Port.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was hosted by veteran cricketer Tamim Iqbal, who urged Amir Khasru to prioritize sports not only in Chattogram but across the nation. Tamim also proposed the idea of conducting yearly follow-up discussions to assess progress and refine strategies in the sports sector. The gathering was graced by the presence of Israfil Khasru, a Bangladesh Cricket Board Councilor, alongside other sports organizers, academy coaches, national players, and sports enthusiasts from Chattogram.

Amir Khasru highlighted the pivotal role sports play in enhancing the country's global image, noting that international recognition often follows sporting excellence. He acknowledged Tamim's significant contributions to boosting Bangladesh's reputation through sports, which he described as a form of soft power. Addressing the concerns regarding the future of sports, Amir Khasru conveyed the BNP's ambitious plans for the sector, should they be elected. The meeting's purpose was to gather feedback on the current sports plan, identify areas for improvement, and incorporate diverse perspectives to promote democracy within sports.

Tarique Rahman has outlined a comprehensive plan for sports, Amir Khasru revealed, emphasizing the need for stakeholder input to refine this strategy. He underscored the importance of engaging the sports community to enhance the plan further and supported Tamim Iqbal's suggestion for an annual discussion to review progress. Amir Khasru also proposed the concept of a sports-centric economy, where increased participation in sports could lead to heightened interest, activity, and transactions within society and the country. Accountability in politics, he noted, remains a key focus for the BNP, aligning with the broader goals of improving sports infrastructure and support in Bangladesh.
