Dhaka: The country's remittance inflow experienced a significant year-on-year growth of 45.1 percent, reaching $3.17 billion in January. This figure marks the third highest remittance inflow for a single month in the nation's history.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh Bank data revealed that the country had received $2.19 billion in remittances during the same period last year. In March of the fiscal year 2024-25, Bangladesh recorded its highest remittance inflow for a single month at $3.29 billion, followed by $3.23 billion in December 2025 as the second highest.
During the period from July to January in the current 2025-26 fiscal year, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $19.44 billion in remittances, compared to $15.96 billion during the same timeframe of the previous fiscal year.
A senior official from Bangladesh Bank, speaking to BSS, stated that the central bank has implemented various strategies to boost remittance inflow to mitigate the foreign exchange crisis and bolster reserves. These efforts have positively influenced the inflow of remittances from expatriates into the country.
