Rangpur: Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) has emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a threat to research. Instead, AI is playing a crucial role in enhancing the quality of research and saving valuable time.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the VC highlighted this perspective during the inaugural ceremony of the two-day workshop titled 'Workshop on the Application of AI Tools in Academic Research.' The event took place at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with the VC serving as the chief guest.
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of BRUR organized the workshop, chaired by its Director Prof Dr Md Tajul Islam. Prof Dr Imran Mahmud, Head of the Department of Science and Information Technology at Daffodil International University, presented the keynote address focusing on the use of AI tools in academic research.
The BRUR VC remarked that the current era is heavily technology-dependent, and it is essential not to fall behind in this aspect. He stressed that by gaining a clear understanding and skills related to AI, academic research can become more dynamic and standardized. The VC further stated that increasing the use of artificial intelligence is vital for enhancing research excellence.
The workshop saw participation from teachers of various departments within Begum Rokeya University. Additional Director of BRUR IQAC Dr Md. Abdur Rakib and Dr Md Sajib Mia were also present at the event.
